Dr. Lunan Shao, DDS

Dr. Lunan Shao is a dedicated associate dentist at Secure Dental’s Portage location. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from UC San Diego in 2016 and went on to achieve her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan in 2021, where her academic achievements led to her induction into the dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Shao is not only passionate about dentistry, but also possesses a diverse range of interests, showcasing her love for culinary experiences as a self-proclaimed foodie. An avid traveler, she dreams of exploring Paris in the future. Outside of the dental office, Dr. Shao finds joy in the company of her Japanese Shiba Inu named PooPoo, and confesses that coffee is an indispensable part of her daily routine. In her leisure time, she indulges in her love for travel, sports, poker, and a variety of board games.

Dr. Yongwoong Lee is an associate doctor based at the Portage and Lake Station offices. A distinguished graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry in 2022, Dr. Lee is dedicated to providing high-quality dental care. He is an esteemed member of the American Dental Association, showcasing his commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in the field of dentistry. Dr. Lee’s academic excellence is further underscored by his membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon at NYU. Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Lee finds joy in pursuing his favorite hobby, golf, and has a keen interest in exploring new cultures, with Japan being his next travel destination. Do you accept my specific PPO dental plan?

We accept most major PPO plans, including Aetna, Delta Dental, Cigna, Guardian, UnitedHealthcare, BlueCross BlueShield plans, and many employer‑sponsored PPOs. Because plan details vary, the best way to confirm is to share your insurance information is to call our office so we can verify it for you.

Do you take Medicare and Medicaid?

Yes. We work with many Medicare dental plans and Medicaid dental programs. Coverage varies significantly by plan, so we always verify your benefits ahead of time and explain what is and isn’t covered before treatment begins. We are not in-network with Traditional Medicaid.

How much will my cleaning, filling, or crown cost with insurance?

Most PPO plans cover preventive cleanings at or near 100%, while restorative procedures like fillings, crowns, or root canals may be covered at 50–80% after any deductible. Once we verify your plan, we provide a written estimate that shows: what insurance pays, your approximate co‑pay, and any remaining deductible.

Are cosmetic services like clear aligners and veneers covered?

Some plans offer limited coverage for orthodontic and cosmetic services, while others consider them elective. We will check your plan’s fine print and give you clear options and payment plans if services are partially or not covered.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

You are still welcome at our office. We offer transparent, upfront pricing and can discuss in‑house payment plans or third‑party financing so you can move forward with necessary care and smile upgrades at a pace that works for your budget.
